Swatches

I love to make swatches. Keep a few around and they're a great way to quickly decide which pattern to use on a project. Here are a few I did last night:

I want to make vests for the girls and think I'll use the "cobblestone" pattern (upper right corner). But, first I have some sewing to do...

WHERE did you learn to do this stuff so well? Self-taught? Everytime I try, I can't get it. When I tried knitting on bedrest, I had a nice looking piece but it was SOOOOOOOOOo tight, at times I had trouble doing it! My crocheting was similar, always so very very tight.

Knitting or crocheting too tightly is very common. I knitted and crocheted very tightly at first and I still sometimes make my beginning chain or cast-on too tight and have to re-do it more loosely. Its a head thing. Once you can get it in your head that its good to be loose (lol!) you'll make nicer stitches. My mom crochets, so she showed me a lot, but You Tube has a lot of great videos showing how to knit and crochet. Just search it for "how to knit" or "how to crochet". Also, go to Knitting Help and check out their videos. They're the best videos on how to knit that I've seen. Good luck!!

Hi Arizonia, what a lovely blog you have! Love the header, I'll bet you did that yourself *VBS*
You'd be most welcome to join us if you'd like to.
With 3 little ones, I can imagine how busy you are. A finish can be any thing, your toddler frock would qualify just fine. It's anything thats been sitting around waiting to be finished. Most of us are quilters, but cross stitch, knitting or crochering is ok too.
Lovc the little toddler frocks, very festive and cute as a button! Hugs, Finn

The new header is great! I can't wait to see the vests for the girls. I'm starting one for me (will take approximately eight times as long as yours but nevermind that).

SO great! I am obsessed with sweater vests so I can't wait to see yours. I am attempting one for myself. Operative is attempting.

Almost called you this week to go on a knitting cruise with me. Its on the fox with wine and appetizers and women knitting. SOunded divine to me. Goodness knows I could use a little mindless activity. But then the rains came...
