Here's block 3 for Amanda Jean's quilt-along at
Crazy Mom Quilts. It isn't perfect, but it looks better than I thought it'd look. For the record, I will no longer be cutting my block pieces at 2 am. I cut the pieces for blocks 1,2, & 3 at 2am last friday night and then sewed blocks 1 & 2 over the weekend and block 3 this afternoon. All 3 blocks are measuring 12 and a quarter square. My seams are a quarter inch on the money, so I must've cut them wrong. I'm going to cut each block to be 12 inches square to make it all even, so I'll have a slightly smaller quilt at the end of the quilt-along, but that's ok. Its my first time doing a star quilt, so I'm just going to go with it and enjoy the process. Maybe learn a thing or two as well! (like, don't cut fabric at 2 am!) I'm also getting to know
my new sewing machine better since I am finally using it on a regular basis. I thought I'd just whiz along and love this machine, but I swore a blue streak at it this afternoon. Getting a new sewing machine is like any other relationship, I guess. There's a break in period where you get to know one another and after a few months you decide if you are truly compatible. So far, I think we will be, but I'm seriously thinking I should have pursued a Bernina!
