I Think I've Accomplished One Goal

Remember my goals for the year? Well, I think I got a job already. It isn't finalized, so I shouldn't even say anything because I know I'll jinx it. BUT, I think I have a job working part time for the Husqvarna Viking Sewing Center near my house. It's only part time, but I'm very happy with that since I don't have a nanny and really don't want to have to get one. Plus, I am taking some accounting classes and they take up some time, too. I took three accounting classes in college and really wanted to be an accounting major, but for a million reasons--or excuses depending on how you look at it!--I took the easy road and graduated ASAP. I have always wished I had changed my major and stuck it out with accounting because it's a MUCH more marketable skill than technical writing, not to mention more profitable. There's a lot of upward movement with accounting. With technical writing there's only lateral movement. I got A's in my accounting classes when I was in college, but now I find myself struggling with Chapter 3 of financial accounting, which is supposed to be a relatively easy class! What happened to me? Did I get stupid with age? Ah well. Such is life. All I want is to have something I can point to that says I have business skills so if my job with Viking gets finalized I have a good chance at moving up in the company. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

I'm Back And I'm Ready To QUILT

We had a great time in Greece. We saw loads of family and baptized our twins in the horio (the village). It was awesome. We went the nontraditional route in choosing godparents...our girls have 3 godfathers, but no godmothers. They are very handsome, very Greek, and very tall and strong!! Who wouldn't want three hot godfathers??? They are also very smart men and I think they are excellent role models, even if they are a little too traditional in their ideas about marriage (in my opinion!). But, most men are too traditional to me. If they don't cook, clean, change diapers, and worship me, they're too traditional in my book. :)

So, now I'm off to finish my 9 patch quilt and catch up on everyone's blogs. I was only gone 12 days, but I feel like it was 12 months!

GO MAKE SOME MUFFINS!

I'm baking again today. We had no snacks in the house and the kids kept chanting "blueberry muffins! blueberry muffins!" so I baked muffins. Luckily I had all the ingredients handy! The recipe was from Martha's book:

Luke helped me, so it took a little longer than expected, but it was a lot of fun! He is my official Mixing Technician.

Cook! Darn it! Cook!

Ahhh! Muffins!

"You are mine, all mine! And I shall devour you!

Confession time: These plates...

I stole 4 of them from Greek Islands restaurant. I don't know why except that it's my most favorite restaurant ever and I just had to have them!

Bake On!!

How To Make Gluten Free Cupcakes That Taste Good

Use a good mix. lol! These cupcakes were made using Pamela's gluten free chocolate cake mix and they were really good! The frosting was also a Pamela's gluten free mix. Both were very easy to make.

Nothing like a cupcake and a cup of tea. I love my new mug. It's cute, isn't it? It was on sale at Joann's for $3.95, so I couldn't resist. I also got one that says, "I love quilting". Totally dorky, I know.

The cupcakes got a thumb's up from Luke....

What a great way to start the week!

About That Husband Of Mine....

Proof that my husband is not in the corporate world...

We were at a Preschool Parents meeting at my kid's preschool and on the way home my husband says, "What's with the parents tonight? They were all on their Blueberries."

Uh, babe, that's Blackberry.

Fun And Games At The Zoo

Ah, a nice relaxing day at the zoo with the darling children. Ha! Sunny and Elle took a liking to this little alligator...

Sunny climbed onto it first. She looks darling, right? Well, when Elle tried to climb on with her, Sunny tried to scratch Elle's eyes out and a twin-fight ensued.

I guess you can say Sunny won this one. I wish I had gotten pictures of them going at one another because its really quite a sight to see, but I had to drop the camera and separate them. Poor Elle.

Luke had to jump on the alligator, too, which really infuriated Sunny. She screamed and pulled Luke's hair. Ugh.

So, we moved on. The kids wanted to walk on this path...

...until Sunny pointed out this sign. "Hey, can't you guys READ???!!!"

After a hike through the Salt Creek Wilderness we went on the carousel. It was the only time there was no fighting.

Boy, my teeth sure are straight, aren't they? I never had braces either. I could use a whitening, though. Nice nostrils, too....

Before we left Luke wanted a photo on the buffalo; or, more accurately, the Bison. Whatever. I always call them tatanka because it stuck with me from the movie Dances With Wolves.

Sunny wanted to sit on it, too, but I was too afraid to let her sit there without holding her, so I could only get a close up. No tatanka in the photo with her.

Time to go home. The day wouldn't have been complete without one last good cry!

I love going out with my kids even though there's always whining, crying and fighting. I used to get a bit flustered when hell would break loose, but now I almost find it amusing. I love when my husband asks how the day went and I get to tell him about all the screaming and fighting. We have a good laugh. We mom's listen to a lot of fighting and whining and screaming. Its a part of raising kids and we all go through it, so why get upset about it? Every trip there are a few moments of bliss where the kids are getting along or Luke will help one of the girls do something and all is right in the world. Those are the moments that warm my heart. I love being a mom. I love it so much, I bought this for myself today:

Totally cheesy, but I had to do it!
